Everest Base Camp in About a Minute…Video

Well, it’s about time we started editing video from our travels in Asia.

We were visiting our friends Bran and Dave this past weekend and they suggested that we start putting up more video on our blog and we couldn’t agree more.

While we were on our Princess Cruise, we chatted with Rick Griffin from Midlife Road Trip and he made a very good point.  In general people browse the Internet looking for video first, photography second and words last.

  • As a Blogger, I tend to browse the Internet and  read words first.
  • As a photographer, Dave enjoys looking at photographs first
  • And as ex film business employees, we both used to watch videos first and foremost.

We started out posting videos on YouTube before we even considered blogging and for some reason we stopped editing videos this year.

It is time to change that.

No matter what your preference, it is important for a blog to be well rounded and incorporate all mediums.  We wrote a post at Travel Writers Exchange called Increase your Audience by Adding Video about the importance of having video as part of your website and it is time that we heed our own advice.

Baby Steps

One thing we have noticed is that people don’t like to watch long videos anymore.  People enjoy short and sweet and to the point. Maybe as we do more videos they ill become longer, but for now, we are giving you some fun travel minutes in the coming weeks.

Here is our first Everest Base Camp Trek video…Day 1, In about a minute.

  1. Oh – I miss Nepal so much…Have you guys done the Annapurna Circuit yet? If not – that’s a great one to also tackle!

      • If you do end up with the Annapurna Circuit as part of your itinerary – let me know and I’m happy to provide great contacts, and info. Also – have a fab little village that I lived in for a few weeks volunteering that would love to have you. It’s not touristy at all and on no ‘hiking route’ – so it’s a great authentic feel!

  2. I love this video! I’m still in the thinking stages in terms of hiking to Everest Base Camp. Nepal seems like such a magical place.

    • You will love the EBC Trek. If you go in March it is not so busy. On our way down we were coming across a lot of traffic, End of March early April would have been extremely busy. It is beautiful. You can read all about our trek starting here http://theplanetd.com/mount-everest-base-camp
It gibes you a play by play of our hike. And we will be putting up videos all week!

    • Thanks Cailin, Your videos are way better, but people like you inspire us to learn. We are just using iMovie right now, but we really need to learn Final Cut to make them more professional. I love Music Alley, it is the best place to get non-copyright music and promote other artists.
