1. Sir Sams
Sir Sams is a staple couples resort in Haliburton that makes for the perfect romantic base. With a full water spa, indoor pool, and five-star dining, you never need to leave the resort. Located directly on Eagle Lake, Sir Sams is also the perfect four-seasons resort. With boating and watersports in the summer and snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the winter.

Things to do in Haliburton
Haliburton has plenty of things to do, Be it winter or summer there is always something for the outdoor lover or romantic at heart. Go for a hike or snowshoe in Haliburton Forest, or see the resident pack of wolves that live in the Haliburton Wolf Sanctuary.
Take a stroll down the main street and be sure to stop in at Evergreen Gallery to busy some beautiful one-of-a-kind prints or go dogsledding in the winter with Winterdance in the winter, or join them in their backcountry cabins the summer. 2. Blue Mountain Village
Blue mountain is our favorite romantic getaway in Ontario. It has always been our go-to weekend trip because there are so many things to do.
The Westin Trillium House is our favourite hotel in Blue Mountain, but in truth, we think that for a romantic couples getaway the Mosaic Boutique Suites by Blue Mountain Resort is a better option for romantic getaways. With the Luxury Spa Award Winning – Iwa Spa, this is ideal for couples to relax and rejuvenate. Book your stay at Mosaic here.
Like the Westin, there is a four seasons outdoor heated pool and hot tub. There is no restaurant on-site, but Mosaic is located in the heart of Blue Mountain village with plenty of dining options available. Check availability and rates for Westin on TripAdvisor or Booking.com
You can’t go wrong with any of the hotels in the village. We’ve stayed at them all. We used to have a season’s ski pass at Blue Mountain and spent many a weekend trying out all the hotels. Blue Mountain is our favourite of all the Ontario Getaways we mention.
Things to do in Blue Mountain
It truly is a four-season escape in Ontario with hiking, mountain biking, and cycling in the summer to skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing in the winter.

3. Chateau Laurier Ottawa
It is no secret that Ottawa is our favourite city in Ontario. While it has plenty of hotels to stay in that are perfectly fine, nothing compares to the historic Fairmont Chateau Laurier. Located directly on the Rideau Canal, this iconic Ottawa landmark has hosted royalty and presidents.
We love staying at Ottawa’s castle, it is like staying in a living museum. There are three fantastic restaurants including La Terrasse for views of the Parliament Buildings, and Zoes for cocktails and light snacks. Like nearly every hotel mentioned in this romantic getaway post, there is a luxurious spa for couples to enjoy a little couples therapy and indulgence. 4. Pearl Hotel & Spa Autograph Collection – Burlington
The Pearl Hotel & Spa is Burlington’s latest luxury escape that is perfect for pampering. Located directly on the waterfront with beautiful views of Lake Ontario, The Pearl is a place that will truly impress your partner or spouse. Every detail has been thought of in this luxury resort that was named after the Ciancone family matriarch – Grandmother Pearle.

Things to do in Burlington
The Pearle Spa features a traditional Hammam sauna, private massage rooms where you can book a couple’s massage, and a relaxation pool. Suites are five-star luxury and the Isabelle Restaurant has waterfront views with fresh farm-to-table cuisine.
Located in downtown Burlington at Spencer Smith Park, there are plenty of things to do from shopping in the quaint boutiques to strolling the waterfront trail. Burlington Village Square is just across the street with plenty of dining and shopping options. Designed to mimic an early 19th century town square, this village has cobblestone streets, cafes and boutique shopping. Paradiso is our favourite place to eat here with fantastic food and wine.
5. Niagara on the Lake
Niagara on the Lake is probably the first place most people think of when planning their romantic Ontario getaways. It has been a couples retreat for decades. Located in the heart of the Niagara wine region, it has that fairytale setting with historic architecture, carriage rides, and grand hotels fit for a king.

There are plenty of things to do in Niagara on the Lake if you dare to pull yourself away from the opulence of the Prince of Wales. 6. Cedar Grove Lodge- Muskoka
What could be more romantic than booking your own log cabin in the woods? Cedar Grove Lodge is located on 150 feet of lakefront property on Peninsula Lake. Each room has its own wood-burning fireplace and this romantic retreat has all-inclusive packages where you can eat three meals a day in the dining room. 7. Langdon Hall – Cambridge
Another complete Romantic Ontario getaway is Langdon Hall in Cambridge. Unlike Blue Mountain and Haliburton, you’re going to want to spend all your time on the resort grounds. My friend Kelly had her wedding here and we had the chance to experience the spa and luxury fireplace suites.
This property has the distinction of being recognized by Relais & Châteaux for a standard of excellence. The Five Diamond dining experience is the perfect romantic evening out and its spa packages include a half-day retreat of a Swedish massage, facials, and manicure and pedicure. Add a glass of champagne and lunch and you have a full day of luxury with the one you love. There is a huge hot tub, saunas, and steam rooms to chill out in for the afternoon. This retreat was made for couples with wine tastings and culinary activities to keep you busy. The sprawling estate offers complimentary garden tours, 12 km of walking trails, cycling, and plenty of quiet places to enjoy a book or relaxing glass of wine.
One thing we are very thrilled to share is that Langdon Hall has partnered with The Keep Refillery to become the first hotel in Ontario to have an in-house refillery. They have overhauled their in-room amenities to a more sustainable model by refilling in-room essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, shower steams and bath bombs. Everyone always thinks of leaving Toronto when booking a romantic Ontario getaway, but Toronto is the perfect place for a couples weekend. 9. Elmhurst Inn and Spa
The Elmhurst in Ingersoll has come a long way baby! The Elmhurst has been a staple of luxury in Western Ontario for as long as I can remember, in fact, I ate here the night of my high school prom. Operating since 1872, the historic landmark sits on the same property as the James Harris Cheese Factory from 1862. It has a full-service spa and fine dining making this the perfect country escape.

We stayed at the Secret Garden Inn and it was a lovely B&B for summer, but we also toured the luxurious Frontenac Club Inn during our walking tour with Arthur Milnes. This chic hotel is the newest addition to hotels in Kingston and it is modern and elegant. Enjoy a cocktail in the Bank Lounge and explore the vault or relax on Kingston’s best rooftop terrace. 12. Niagara Falls
I can’t help it, I love Niagara Falls. Dave and I have spent many a romantic weekend in Niagara Falls and it keeps calling us back again and again. Book a Fallsview suite at the Sheraton Fallsview for the ultimate Niagara Falls view. Our favourite hotel for a Niagara Falls getaway is the Marriott Fallsview Hotel & Spa but you can’t go wrong with suites at Embassy Suites by Hilton or the Raddison Hotel and Suites. In fact, the Raddison has one of the best honeymoon suites with gorgeous views of Horseshoe Falls.

13. Deerhurst Resort
Did you know that Shania Twain performed at Deerhurst Resort? Deerhurst Resort is a year-round holiday escape that reminds me of a set out of Dirty Dancing. There are outdoor activities, entertainment, and dining. While it is more geared to families and not quite as romantic as nearby Cedar Grove Lodge, it is a great romantic escape since there are so many things to do on the resort.
With spa packages, dining packages, and B&B packages there is something for everyone at Deerhurst. Another popular resort in Muskoka is Rosseau Muskoka Resort and Spa. 14. Trillium Resort and Spa
If you are looking for something more upscale in Muskoka, Trillium Resort and Spa offers private chalets and cottages. There is 6 km of hiking trails, a waterfall, sauna, and hot tub. There are year-round outdoor activities from snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and skating in the winter to kayaking and canoeing in the summer. 15. Paris
We can’t leave out our home town of Paris. Just 1 hour and 20 minutes from Toronto, Paris is fast becoming one of the best places to visit for a weekend getaway. This charming town is located on the Grand River and for its small size, it packs a huge punch. There are several atmospheric restaurants and boutique stores where you can stroll the street while sipping hot chocolate.
Stay at the Arlington Hotel located right downtown and spend a morning walking along the Grand River Trail.
Things to do in Paris
Grab Lunch at the Paris Beer Company and then pick up a bottle of wine at the liquor store across the street along with some gourmet snacks and treats at Wincey Mills. Then make your way over to the Ah Spa for an afternoon of pampering. It’s located just across the street from the Arlington Hotel, so you can go back to your room after your massage or treatment to enjoy a glass of bubbly before your night out.
Make reservations at Stillwaters or Capeesh, or you may want to enjoy a fixed menu at 2 Rivers. There is also Fine Dining at the Juniper. 16. Idlewyld Inn and Spa
We can’t forget London Ontario and the Idlewyld Inn and Spa has been a landmark since 1848. Located near Wortley Village and close to downtown, the Idlewyld Inn has 21 luxurious rooms. There is a full-service spa and dining. Book the romance package where you receive a box of chocolates, a bottle of prosecco, and a deluxe breakfast.
