Meet Plan Go September 14th in Toronto

It is hard to believe that our summer at home is coming to an end soon and in a short time we will be back on the road exploring the world.
Not before we meet with fellow travel lovers for an inspiring evening of Meet Plan Go though.
Brainchild of Michaela Potter and Sherry Ott of Briefcase to Backpack, Meet Plan Go is an event taking place in 13 cities simultaneously across North America.
If you have ever had the dream of taking an extended travel but don’t have the resources or means to make it happen, Meet Plan Go is for you.
The event is completely free and it is going to be one motivating evening.

We never worried what would happen to us if we didn’t go away, we always worried what we would be missing out on if we stayed.

We are still nailing down the details of the location for the Toronto Event as the response has been so overwhelming that we have outgrown our original venue but you can still sign up at our Meet Plan Go event page.
If you don’t live in the GTA, no worries, Meet Plan Go is happening all over the United States.

We are excited to be a part of a panel of travellers that we have admired in the past and can now call them our friends and mentors.

Evelyn Hannon is the worlds premier source of information for women traveling independently. Her website JourneyWoman was established in 1997 and she has continued to be an inspiration for women traveling solo around the world. Featured in such publications as Time and People Magazine, she has also appeared on television shows such as Good Morning America and Canada AM.  We are inspired each time we speak with her and I know that you will be too.

Janice Waugh is publisher of SoloTraveler and has also spent 10 months on the road traveling with her family.  If anyone knows that it is important to embrace life and take it by the horns, it is Janice.  After returning from the trip of a lifetime with her family, her husband developed and illness and died just four years later. She writes about this experience in her article Should I Stay or Should I Go.  That hasn’t stopped her from creating exciting business and travel opportunities and it is Janice that is the host and organizer of the Toronto Meet Plan Go Event.

I know what you are thinking.

Sure, it is easy for the three of you to speak, you have gone on and made travel your careers.

However, we haven’t forgotten about the people that simply want to take time off to see the world, but would like to rejoin society once they return home.  Theresa Dillon has taken a long term career break with her husband who has actually taken sabbaticals from work on more than one occasion.  They have successfully re-entered the work force and have had such great success that they are planning yet another extended travel with their two children in two years time.

Dave and I will be a part of this superb panel and we will be sharing our story of how we have turned 10 years of leaving and re-entering the workforce to finally take the plunge and make long term travel our lifestyle.  The most important thing that we always noticed when we left our high paying jobs and secure life is that even better and more exciting opportunities came our way after each extended journey.  We made room in our lives for great things to happen and they always seem to work out.  We feel that life is what you make it and if you open yourself up to new experiences, it will give you exactly what you are looking for.  We never worried what would happen to us if we didn’t go away, we always worried what we would be missing out on if we stayed.

There will be other long term travellers on hand at the Meet Plan Go event that you can talk one on one with as well.  We are all at different stages in our travels and we all take different vacations.  One thing is common though, is that we all love to see the world.
