It was our second visit to Parc Omega Wolf Lodge in Quebec and this time we were staying in the magnificent wolf cabin. This unique accommodation, ingeniously designed with glass walls allows guests the rare opportunity to witness the wolves in their natural habitat, all from the comfort and safety of a cozy, well-appointed cabin. As twilight falls the parc empties out save for those who booked a stay at one of the wolf cabins. As silence falls, the haunting melodies of wolf howls punctuate the air, creating a symphony that speaks to the soul.

Parc Omega Wolf Lodge, Quebec
Parc Omega is a unique wildlife park located in Montebello, Quebec, Canada, that offers visitors a chance to observe a variety of North American wildlife in their natural habitats. Self Drive Safari
You can visit Parc Omega on a day trip from Ottawa or Montreal. When you enter the park, you will begin a 12km self-drive loop through the different habitats. The route takes about an hour and a half to drive through, but if you are like us and take a lot of photos, it can be a couple of hours.
The car tour is an amazing way to see wildlife from the safety and comfort of your vehicle.
Be sure to pick up a bag of carrots to feed the deer. You are allowed to feed carrots to the animals from your window. We suggest picking up at least two bags of carrots, the white-tailed deer are cute, but they are greedy and love eating out of the palm of your hand.
Habitats of Parc Omega
Something we love about Parc Omega is how it has recreated landscapes to mimic the animal’s natural habitats. Serge Lussier who specializes in conservation, helped to design a lot of the habitat within the park. He said that he wouldn’t bring an arctic animal to Parc Omega if they didn’t have a habitat for them.
There is the Arctic Tundra for Arctic animals and wide open plains for the bison. The mountain goats were perched atop a high rocky hill and looked right at home. Since mountain goats normally live at high altitudes, this is a good alternative for them to live out their days.

Parc Omega offers a bunch of different experiences. So much so, that you can make an entire weekend out of visiting Parc Omega. Indigenous Trail
In addition to the wildlife, Parc Omega also has a rich cultural history. The park is located on land that was once inhabited by the Algonquin First Nations people, and there are several exhibits and installations throughout the park that showcase their history and culture.
One way to get out and experience the nature and scenery of Parc Omega is to hike the 1km (.6 mile) forested trail that leads past totems carved by Indigenous Algonquin artist Dennish Charette. In the summer, you can enjoy Omega by Night, an illuminated walk followed by storytelling. In the winter it is a snowshoeing trail making the experience even more magical.
Park House Restaurant and Gift Shop
The Park House Restaurant and Gift Shop will be your first stop on your Parc Omega safari. It is here that you can grab your bag of carrots and if you want a bit to eat there is a restaurant. It also has a good gift shop to pack up some souvenirs.

Parc Omega Wolf Chalet
Nestled within the pristine wilderness of Parc Omega in Quebec, the wolf cabin offers an unparalleled retreat into the heart of nature, providing an immersive and intimate encounter with one of the most mysterious and majestic creatures of the forest – the wolf.
The Wolf Lodge at Parc Omega is not your typical accommodation. The wolf lodges are log cabins made of wood and glass, providing a cozy and intimate atmosphere while also offering panoramic views of the wolves as they roam freely in their habitat. The cabins are insulated and have heating for the colder months, as well as air conditioning for the summer.
There is a comfortable bed, a bathroom with a shower, and a small kitchenette for preparing meals complete with a dining table, microwave, refrigerator, Nespresso coffee machine, dishes, and towels. So make sure to pack food and wine. You’ll be nestling in for the evening for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The highlight of the cabin, however, is the large glass window that offers an unobstructed view of the wolves.
Staying in a wolf cabin is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the beauty and power of these animals up close, all while being in a safe and controlled environment. Watching the Interaction of Wolves From Our Chalet
We spent the night in a log cabin in the middle of the wolf sanctuary where a pack of wolves spent the night howling, running around, sleeping, and playing in front of our private glass observation room.
During the day, you can go for a walk along the boardwalk to observe the wolves from above. At night, you can hear the wolves howling, providing an authentic and unforgettable wilderness experience. It was amazing to watch the alpha male dominate the pack. It was very clear to see the nuances of the wolf pack with the Alpha male and Alpha female looking strong and healthy and the others falling into line down to the scruffy omega.
My heart broke for the poor Omega wolf who was constantly being bullied or ignored. Even during the wolf howl in the middle of the night, we noticed that it wasn’t allowed to join in. We could tell it wanted to so badly, but it knew it couldn’t. It really lived up to all of the hype and is an experience we recommend you don’t miss.
Other Accommodation Options
There are other more affordable options from booking a night in a tent or tipi. Wi-Tents are the ultimate glamping experience with beds and seating inside a large conical tent. There is wood heating, an outdoor fire pit, and solar energy for lighting.
There is an organic toilet and water for drinking. But the best thing about this accommodation is that you’ll have access to the footbridge to view the wolf and bear enclosures.
Pod Village
Another option for accommodation is to stay in one of the pods in the village. They are not located in the wolf enclosures so you won’t be seeing the wolves at night, but you will still hear the sounds of the park and you will be able to enjoy the activities that happen after the sun goes down.
Pods have electricity, heating and air, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. Kids will love sleeping in the mezzanine bed that acts as the ultimate bunk bed. They are also near the Old Farm which is a great place to visit with kids.
Stilt House
Families will love staying in the stilt house. It sleeps 7 people with full beds and bedding to rent if you don’t want to bring your own. We just suggest packing a sleeping bag. Like the tents, it has an organic toilet, an outdoor fireplace, and solar energy for lighting.
This also gives access to the wolves’ and black bears’ footbridges to observe them in their natural habitats.
Wolves and Bear Suite
Just new and officially opened in September 2023 is Parc Omega’s new Wolves and Bear suite. This time you get the best of both worlds. You have your option of the one or two-floor suites. These cabins are pure luxury with modern decor, fireplaces, and even an outdoor fire pit. They are strategically placed so you can see both the bears and the wolves up close. The two-floor unit even has a balcony for incredible views. It is important to note that the bears are hibernating from November to April so it will just be the wolves during this time.

Great Canadian Safari – The Wildlife Of Parc Omega
Visiting Parc Omega is like going on a safari. We have been on safari around the world and this is very similar. The other animals are in large enclosures and roam freely. They can walk right up to your car so be prepared. Sometimes the deer and caribou can get a bit aggressive when trying to eat carrots, so make sure to keep moving.
You can go around the driving trail as many times as you like to see the different animals. Do not get out of your car except for at designated areas.
Arctic Foxes: Our favorite part of Parc Omega was definitely the Arctic enclosures. We enjoyed seeing the arctic animals in the wintertime more than our other visits. They seemed completely in their element when a blanket of snow was on the ground. WE had seen arctic foxes in northern Canada but it was nice to get a more up and close view of them.
Arctic Wolves: Seeing wolves is one thing in life, having the chance to see beautiful Arctic wolves is another. These wolves were very curious when we stopped to see them. They kept their distance, but they posed beautifully for our camera. Did you know that the Arctic wolf is a sub-species of the Gray wolf? You can also learn a lot about the wildlife while you are here.
Elk: A great time to visit Parc Omega is during the rutting season when male antlers have reached their full growth. WE saw a few males with their harem of females. They are such beautiful animals that I think we spent 20 minutes just watching them.
Caribou: Reindeer are called caribou in Canada, but if you are visiting Parc Omega with kids, call them reindeer, they’ll love it! What I always found interesting about these animals is the size of their hoofs. They are huge, a nd help them walk through the snow in the winter, which is the best time to see them in my opinion.
Coyotes: Until I saw coyotes in the wild, I never really understood just how large they are. They can easily be confused with wolves, but they are a bit smaller. One way to tell them apart is to look at their ears, they are pointier than a wolf. We loved seeing the Coyotes in the fall when the leaves were yellow and orange. What a magnificent backdrop for these beautiful animals.
