We went back and stayed at my daughters 5 minutes down road, very clean big, and she only paid $210. a night for 3 full bedrooms, 2 balcony's BBQ pits, washer dryer, full kitchen, living room, 2 Bathrooms, lots of room to park and do things underneath and very close to beach, Just very disappointed in the Boardwalk

The room i reserved for my family at board walk was horrible. Left a review and it was hidden. Family owned and let's family and all their friends stay for free taking up all activities for the families that actually paid. Do not go there.

Bolivar peninsula is a great place to kick back and relax on an uncrowded beach. Lots of great seafood at area restaurants. Visit the lighthouse and the Fort and some of the little shops around town. Not alot of tourist traffic and not alot of activities like neighboring Galveston but that's why we like it.

Bolivar Peninsula is GREAT if you prefer a slower pace.

Bolivar Peninsula is GREAT if you prefer a slower pace. Lots to do and see for free. Good restaurants available. If you go in "winter" make sure you check hours, as some businesses close certain days or close earlier than one would normally expect. Fort Travis is a great place to visit. You can not visit the Bolivar lighthouse, but you can see it from the road and Fort Travis. The North Jetty is fun to walk down and free to visit. We can't wait to go back and experience more of Bolivar Peninsula, specifically the bay side of the peninsula. Jay's Golf Carts was a fantastic find for us, as it had recently opened; Jay has 10 years of experience with golf carts. Included with our rental was a map of the peninsula! We got a great price too. We didn't know that delivery of and pick up of the golf cart was even a thing that was done. We picked Jay's out of proximity to our rental. The golf cart could have been delivered and picked up, but we drove it away from Jay's. You don't need worry about proximity, because Jay delivers and picks up! If you get bored on Bolivar, there is a TON to do in Galveston and it is a quick ferry ride away. The pace is much faster in Galveston. Be prepared to spend the day there and pack in as much as you can, if you venture across the ferry. Moody Gardens is fantastic. Johnson Space Center isn't as close, but well worth the drive. Pleasure Pier is on our list of things to do when we return.

This is not white sand nor blue water.

This is not white sand nor blue water. But it is ocean and beauty! Salt, sand, smell (of the ocean), and surf! And you can drive directly on the beach - dragging all our stuff to the beach has never been easier!!
