FAQs about hotels in Lagos

History and Sandy Algarve Beaches

With a long and rich history, Lagos is nowadays a famous beach resort of the sunny Portuguese region of Algarve. Including wide sandy beaches and quiet coves enclosed by ochre cliffs, it also offers a lively city centre with one of the best mixes between history and modernity in the region.

King Henry the Navigator chose it as a base for his trips of discovery during the 15th century, and later on, it became the residence of the Algarve governors. The Old Town is circled by medieval walls, typical narrow streets, historic buildings and charming squares. B&B’s and hotels in Lagos’s historic centre allow you to enjoy these picturesque surroundings.

Apart from being an important centre for sailing, the city has amazing beaches, like Meia Praia or Praia da Dona Ana. Resorts and hotels on Lagos’ beaches are the perfect choice for sun lovers, while the hotels near the modern Lagos Marina are popular, as they are both close to the centre and the railway station.

The city is 90 km from Faro Airport, and 24 km from Portimão. Check out the Lagos hotels deals on Booking.com before travelling!

Old town Lagos is a gem. Being on the ocean and the beautiful coast. It is easy to rent a car and use Lagos as a home base. Silves is beautiful and a must see. It is the orange capital of Portugal. Taveria is another gem. The fresh squeezed orange juice in Portugal is the best I’ve ever had.

My brief stay in Lagos, Portugal, was nothing short of...

My brief stay in Lagos, Portugal, was nothing short of magical. Nestled along the stunning Algarve coast, this city proved to be a treasure trove of experiences, packed into just one night. The warm, welcoming vibe of the locals set the tone for an unforgettable visit. Strolling through the vibrant streets of the historic centre, I was enchanted by the blend of traditional architecture and lively bars and cafes, each telling its own story of the city's rich heritage. As the sun set, the city transformed, with the golden hues of the coastline giving way to a lively nightlife that pulsed with energy and music. The highlight of my stay was the breathtaking beauty of the beaches, where the cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean meet, offering serene views that etch into memory. Dining in Lagos was a culinary adventure, with local seafood dishes that tantalised the taste buds, each bite infused with the flavours of the Algarve. Even within the span of a night, Lagos captivated my heart with its picturesque landscapes, vibrant culture, and the unmistakable charm of a city that dances to the rhythm of the sea. Though my visit was brief, the memories of Lagos are vivid and enduring, a testament to the city's ability to enchant and inspire. It's a place where history, culture, and natural beauty converge, creating a travel experience that's as rich as it is memorable. Lagos, with its undeniable allure, is a destination I look forward to exploring further, with more nights to uncover its many wonders.

The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Really helpful and friendly! :) As we preferred going to the beautiful beaches in Lagos, just 5 min walk from the hotel, we didn't use the pool as much. The pool space is nevertheless quite pleasant, with two large pools side to side very well equipped. Our room (with kitchenette), as well as the common areas, were always spotlessly clean. Breakfast is quite good, excellent quality and very diverse, and the service faultless. For sure a place to keep visiting in the future.

Tivoli Lagos was a lovely hotel to stay at! We were in a superior room with a small balcony. Room was clean, spacious and bathroom was modern and comfortable. They have a great outdoor and indoor pool. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a big range of choices and the hotel has made a lot of efforts to keep everyone safe (breakfast time slots so not too many people are here at once, everyone wears masks while moving inside the hotel). Had an amazing stay, would definitely recommend + book again!

the room was quite spacious and kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The pool was wonderful and the beach was just a short walk away. The property is a 3 min drive away from Lagos city centre. The closest grocery store was 2 minutes drive away. There is a small cafeteria in the hotel by the pool and some restaurants at walking distance. We stayed for 8 nights and the room was cleaned each day. The reception staff was helpful and courteous. The stay was quite comfortable and relaxing.

We really enjoyed our stay at Palmares. The hotel is at a beautiful location on the golf course with great ocean view, a few minutes drive to Lagos town center. The room is modern with top amenities, it also comes with a super king bed that is very comfortable. The balcony has great ocean view with Logas town in the back drop. All the staffs are very nice, breakfast is great as well. We wish we could stay longer, definitely stay here again if we come back to Algarve.

Location is right on the beach and can't be beaten. They also helpfully rent out beach towels (you have to leave a deposit but you get the money back when you return the towel). The breakfast is decent - there are some hot foods (eggs, sausages, beans), cheese, cold meats, fruit, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, etc. There is a parking lot outside the hotel which I imagine would get quite busy in the hotter months but we had no trouble getting a park

This hotel was 10/10, I would recommend to anyone looking to travel to Lagos. Easy walking distance to the centre with loads of cafes, restaurants and bars. 30 min walk to some incredible beaches and right in front of the marina for boat tours. The hotel breakfast was amazing, one of the best I’ve ever had. Highlight is definitely the roof top pool for afternoon swims and sun downers. Highly recommend! don’t hesitate and just book this hotel!

Big hotel, in central Lagos. Overall friendly staff and clean rooms/facilities. Rooms are bigger than expected, bathroom also big and with a walk in shower. One night there was live music at the bar. We got vouchers for a drink at the bar by deciding not to let our room be cleaned every single day. Breakfast was good. Multiple options to park your car: Free (not secured) and charged (and secured) parking.

Everything here is great. The pools and spa area are very nice and relaxing. The location next to Porto de Mos beach is amazing. Just a quick walk down the hill and you are at the beach. There are two great restaurants on the beach you should also check out, Campimar and Antonios. The condos are very well built, and are comfortable. Would definitely stay here again when in Lagos.

Fairly basic hotel whose greatest benefit is its location in the heart of Lagos center, where you literally step out into the prime area of the town. The room was a decent size and included all the necessary amenities. It also faced a non-busy side street so the noise level was not very noticeable. Cleaning staff and reception were both very friendly.
