Izamal is a lovely place to visit. We had great food there, walk around and visited the pyramid. We also did a carriage ride around the city. Our guide was very informative about all the temples and apparently we stayed in the first hotel ever build in Izamal so we were told.

A gorgeous and photogenic city that feels much smaller than it is. It doesn’t feel touristy at all. There’s a pyramid in the middle of town that you can climb for free. The carriage driver I used was very personable and knowledgeable.

This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan.
This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan. It is clean safe and charming. There is a nice little museum in the square and a small craft market each day. There are romantic tours of the town by horse and carriage. The highlight is Convento de San Antonio. It is painted totally in yellow ( as is the town ) and is a stunning photograph moment.

Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent.
Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent. It's a great town to walk around and it was very surprising to find an amazing Mayan Pyramid just 2 blocks from the town centre, and more amazing to have the whole site to yourself!

I stayed in Izamal for two nights which was the perfect amount of time. There are quite a few Mayan pyramids and chapels scattered throughout the town that are easy to walk to-and-from. The main sight is Convento San Antonio de Padua. Be sure to visit on a Sunday when the church is open.

Izamal is a beautiful town. There is so much rich history. We really wish our stay could have been longer. We highly recommend the horse drawn carriages. We did ours in the evening and our guide was amazing. Marcos was his name and I believe he mainly works in the evenings. Anyway, we cannot wait to come back.
Amazing central location, right by the convent
Views of convent from room
Views of convent from swimming pool, garden and breakfast area
Really helpful staff. Alexandro in particular went above and beyond with his excellent advice on everything from Izamal to Mérida, to life in Mexico. We enjoyed all of our chats with him and he made us feel very welcome.
Nice swimming pool and hammock area.
Every part of my stay at this hotel met or exceeded what I need to be satisfied as a guest. It was very clean, quiet, a good value for this price range, and has a peaceful garden with a well maintained pool. The bed was comfortable, the shower with hot water, the air conditioner efficient and quiet, the staff helpful, and a grocery store one block away.
A hidden gem in the Yucatan! It's a great escape from the over touristy places in the region and was a highlight of our trip. In between the busier cities/sites nearby (Merida, Chichen Itza), Macan Che is the perfect spot for a few days of calm in Izamal.
This is an amazing hotel for the value. Beautifully cared for grounds, upscale furnishings and the service is exemplary. We stayed two nights. Glad it was a little further from the squarebecause we got to see a quieter side of town.
The hotel is really beautiful. The common areas are full of art, there is a bubbling Koi pond in the middle, and a lovely garden to sit and eat. The room was comfortable, good sized and the AC worked great.
Beautiful hacienda. Great breakfast. Rooms are very nice and clean. The staff very attentive and the manager of the hotel speaks perfect English which is not so common in Mexico.
Loved all the artefacts around this small hotel. The fish pond was lovely. The location was right near the square and the convent. Izamal is an interesting unique town.
Very pretty “hotel”. All the rooms, seperately cabins are set in a very pretty garden with a little pool area. Really good breakfast. Easy parking. Safe neighbourhood
The place is a lovely and charming hotel with individual rooms and a beautiful pool. the staff are lovely and helpful and the vibe of the hotel was comfortable
It’s a beautiful & well maintained property steps from the park & close to everything to see in downtown Izamal. The owner was accessible & extremely nice.
After a day in the Mexican heat, the swimming pool is a very nice asset of the hotel. Ideal if you have a rental car that you want to park. large rooms
