From Thaipusam in Malaysia to the 500yr anniversary of the town of Hampi in India, we seem to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time. Below are just 5 of the crazy festivals we have been lucky enough to experience.
Cultural travel can be one of the most rewarding ways to travel. Immersing culture of a destination gives you a better understanding of each place you visit.
There is nothing more exciting than coming into a town to find out that you have arrived in time for a yearly festival. How lucky we felt when we heard that in Shilpgram, a mere two kilometres away from Udaipur, there was an arts festival taking place as we speak. Dancers, performers, artists and trades people from all over India have come to Shipgram for a 10 day festival to show off their talents.
Yesterday we had our first massage in India. It was a memorable experience and you can read about it here. We had the full body Ayurvedic Massage will therapeudic oils. I am sure that we will be having more as we go through our travels. It made us think about the other memorable massages that we have had on our past travels. We love getting a massage, it is a luxury that we cannot afford to have regularly at home, so we take advantage of it wherever we go. Some experiences have been better than others and some stand our in our memories better than others. Here is a list of our Top 5 most memorable massages
One of the coolest festivals (and I mean that in every sense) is Songkran Festival in Thailand. We were lucky enough to find ourselves in Chang Mai during the holiday and took part in the World’s Largest Water Fight for 4 days! Chang Mai is certainly the most exciting place to celebrate Songkran. A significant cultural city of the country filled with tradition, temples, the old city and even a beautiful moat. There is no place I would rather be during the Water Festival.
