Young Love in Paradise

Young Love in the Paradise that is Fiji.

Fiji is Paradise…

I just wanted to get that out of the way first. It seems to me that anyone who has been to Fiji or is dreaming of it has the idea that this small chain of islands in the South Pacific is paradise.  Well they would be right. From the crystal clear blue waters, to their unforgettable sunsets Fiji does not disappoint.

But it really is the culture here that pulled us in the most. Everyone greets you with an enhusiastic “BULA” no matter where you go and old traditions are still in practice throughout the islands. This day was no exception. We took a boat ride down the Sigatoka river to visit a local village. Here they still fished the waters and ran things the old way .

It was at a Kava ceremony that these two caught my eye. During the ceremony they peeked in from outside, laughing and giggling the whole time. When they both sat together in the doorway and began to play I grabbed my camera and snapped theis photo.

The innocence on their faces and the fact that they seem unaffected by what is happening in the world around them makes me a little bit envious. To be so carefree seems to be lost on our generation.

What I love about photography is that every photo can convey a story. What does this photo say to you?
