Pamela Walther-Mabee said: I would love to learn German! Actually, my husband really wants to learn German and I would love to win this for him. He has checked out online courses for about 5 years, and always comments, “I would love to learn German, BUT we don’t have an extra $500? (..extra money goes into the vacation pot). Greg, has downloaded children’s translation games, for our 4 year old – and he plays them more than she does. We are planning a return trip to Germany/ Austria this year, and this gift would be the icing on the cake! Danke

Kelly Gibson said: I would love to learn Spanish…not just learning a few cheeky phrases but to actually be fluent. I went to Bolivia 9 months ago and fell in love with South America. I volunteered on an eye surgical mission trip and all I can say is, it was a life changing experience. My only regret was that I had to rely on an interpreter to communicate with the patients. I was lucky enough to be travelling with a friend who spoke Spanish and I was very envious and in awe of her ability to interact with the local people. I plan on doing more volunteer work and a second language would be very helpful.
P.S. I have a facebook friend from Bolivia and I really want to stop having to click on the translate button to read her posts..:)
We say: Kelly’s comment resonated with us because she is going to use her Spanish to help people through volunteering. Since she doesn’t speak more than cheeky phrases, we felt that this three month course would get her on the right track for her next volunteering experience.
There you have it, those are the three winners! There were so many amazing entries it was difficult to choose but we didn’t want to simply do a random draw. Other people were also wanting to learn languages for selfless reasons, to communicate with loved ones and friends and to be able to connect and engage with the locals. There were many stories that touched us, but we tried hard to look at who had an advantage over another. Some people were married or dating someone who already spoke the second language so they could learn from them, other’s were volunteering as well and doing great work but they already had a handle on the language and were well on their way. Some people could already speak a few languages so we wanted to give it to those who don’t already know a second language chance.
We did our best to remain fair and I hope that these three ladies and Pamela’s husband enjoy their courses. Thank you everyone for all your amazing answers and we wish that we could give everyone the gift of a second language. We’ll be sharing our experience over the coming months as we tackle Spanish with Online Trainers ourselves.

A language teacher should insist on student’s active participation in the classroom, and it is equally applicable if you have started an online language teaching course.
