Traveling the world is an amazing way to live. We love being on the road and couldn’t imagine our life without traveling. However, sometimes it can become a little lonely. Even though we have each other, traveling is a solitary life. Sure you meet new friends and make new connections, but most of the time it is just Dave and I keeping each other entertained. Every once in a while, we really miss our friends and family and would love nothing more than to be at home hanging out with everyone in the backyard.
There are many solo travel blogs out there that talk about how traveling is solo is great and we admire the people that travel alone. It takes a strong person of a certain breed that can go out into the world solo and explore. We are not those people. Traveling as a couple is all we know. Over the years we have developed a system and have found traveling as a couple provides a lot of benefits as opposed to going it alone.
Long term travel can be tough. After a couple of months on the road, it becomes work. You are no longer in that honeymoon phase of excitement. Every day has been one site, temple, trek or museum after another. Sometimes, after you have been busy being a tourist for weeks on end, all you want to do is nothing. Here are some signs that told Dave and I that we just may have a little bit of travelers Fatigue.
We have received a few emails lately asking us how we travel the world. People want to know what we do in our day to day lives to save and budget and people want to know how we afford it. Many people are so afraid to take a chance to follow their dreams that they forget to live. As travelers, we view life as living, not the amount of things that you have in your possession. If you are feeling the same way, you just may want to check out the links that we have listed above.
I can’t believe we are going to India. In our minds, you haven’t truly traveled until you have gone to India. All the real hard core backpackers go there for a tough, character building, frustrating and yet enlightening travel.
The blog is starting to feel like we have actually gotten it to where we want it. We like the layout and we like the plugins that we have added to the site. Changing the Subscribe to us button has helped increase our subscribers and by adding the subscribe to comments plug-in at the end of posts has added a feel of a conversations going on.
While other people are content to put down roots, see their friends regularly and take their yearly vacations and getaways, we always feel the need to keep moving. I guess that there are certain people in this world that are just explorers through and through. While people judge travelers in today’s age, some of the greatest people in history were explorers and travelers.
Packing for an extended travel can be very tricky indeed. It is one thing to pack for a vacation where you are staying in one resort and not moving for the week or two that you are away. You can pack all you want because you only ever have to deal with your luggage at the airport and transfers where you have trolly’s and valets to help you out. But it is completely another experience to pack for a travel that will keep you on the move for months on end.
