Forget the old Paris and leave your preconceptions at the door. There is a new Paris bubbling to the surface and it’s fast, chaotic, vibrant and most of all impossible to ignore. People, languages and cultures are all exploding here and I couldn’t wait to capture it all on film.
Not a lot of people think of Niagara Falls in the Winter, but it is a great getaway during the cold months. During the month of January the ice wine festival is going on and Niagara Wineries are open for business. Not only are they open for business, they are running special promotions and events. [...]
It was something that we have always wanted to do. Take a camel safari through the desert and sleep under the stars. Rajasthan is the place to do it in India and we wasted no time booking a trip once we hit Jaisalmer. It didn’t turn out to be the mystical experience that we were expecting. The Thar Desert is more of a desert of shrubs and not exactly the most pristine landscape, but it did have it’s moments on the sand dunes where we felt like we had stepped back in time. After editing our video below, it has softened our memories of our time with our guide Bilal. He was a bit of a scam artist and gave us a hard time which you can read more about at our Camel Safari Adventure post, but on film he comes across as very sweet and genuine.
Day two of our Everest Base Camp Trek was the longest day of our climb. It involved a 6 hour hike from Pakding to Namche Bazaar. We covered 10 km of mountainous terrain with a final elevation gain of 800 metres. The second day is a lot of fun though because you cross several suspension bridges, you get to challenge yourself by trekking up some steep mountains and you see a lot of Yaks and donkeys on the trails taking supplies from Lukla to Namche Bazaar.

An amazing video that captures the essence of the Shilpgram Festival in Udaipur, India.
It was a wild and special day that is right up there with any moment in our travels. When we arrived in Hampi a few days earlier, we were told that we were very lucky to be here as Hampi is celebrating it’s 500 anniversary. 500 years ago, King Krishnadevaraya was crowned king and the beginning of an empire was born. while a photo is worth a thousand words…there is nothing like video capturing the energy and excitement of a festival such as the one that happened in Hampi
In India, Twenty Million people take the train every day! Trains are always overbooked and there is a wait list. Sometimes a wait list is 60 people long! According to India Rail, we can book online, but their website does not take our Canadian Credit Card. Booking train stations are often far away, and you are at the mercy of high commissions with travel agents.
So it is the beginning of another week and as I sum up the post, I see that yes we did make some steps forward this week. Not giant steps, but baby steps. Every week there is something that keeps me going. I recently read a post on a website that stated that most Bloggers give up too soon and probably just when they were about to have a breakthrough. There is no way that we are going to quit writing and running this blog. We love it, but I must say, that I really hope that a breakthrough is on the horizon.
When Dave and I first started traveling, we concentrated more on our videos and photos than anything else. We would make little 22 minute episodes to show our friends and families when we came home. We found a movie of each country explained our experiences more than anything and they could relate to our travels on a more intimate level.
