If you’ve been reading ThePlanetD this year, you will have noticed that once a week or so we have been giving you little teasers about our latest and greatest upcoming adventure The Mongol Rally.
It’s our final day of rock climbing in Railay, Thailand. We have had 3 glorious days with Hot Rocks Climbing school in Southern Thailand and it is sad to see the end coming.

When visiting the world’s greatest Karst formations in Yangzhou, you can’t possibly consider not going climbing for an afternoon. The area surrounding Yangzhou is a climber’s paradise and die hards from around the world come to this region to conquer its routes for months on end. With hundreds of sport climbing routes and more being set every day, it is a world-class destination for climbing. The limestone cliffs make for ideal conditions and the many mountains offer varied routes for all levels.
We have StumbledUpon sites in both Paris and Barcelona and it was time to don our new StumbleUpon T-shirts for an adventure. If there is one cool and unique adventure to do in this part of the world it is to tackle a Via Ferrata. We are going to be writing more about our time in Digne Les Bains but for now enjoy our shots of Dave and Deb StumblingUpon the Via Ferrata, Rocks of Nine Hours. If you have never rock climbed before but have always wanted to see what it is like to hang off of the side of a cliff, a Via Ferrata is for you. It has all the thrill of rock climbing without needing the skill of mountaineering. No need for technique here. Just rent a harness and clip yourself into cables as you climb ladders and scale bridges through a high route.
Dave and I love to rock climb. For a couple of years in our life, we climbed regularly all around the Toronto area. We were regulars at Joe Rockheads climbing gym in the city and we hung out with our climbing friends to tackle the local crag on the weekends. That is why when we heard that there was bouldering in Hampi, we just had to check it out for ourselves.
Alberta is home to simply the most beautiful mountain range we have ever seen on the planet. Driving north from Calgary towards the Rocky Mountain range was breathtaking. We could only come up with one word over and over. Another writer on the drive Chris, used the word Dramatic to describe the drive while we were eating dinner the first night and he was right. Once those rocky mountains appeared we just couldn’t get the word “dramatic” out of our heads.
