We first heard about Locked up Abroad while travelling in Jamaica. Our travel mates were chatting about all the different ways that clueless tourists manage to get themselves thrown in jail. I couldn’t believe that this was actually a TV series and I just had to see it for myself. When we returned home, we caught a few episodes and found them to be very entertaining. It’a amazing to see what people think they can get away with in other countries around the world.
Located on an Oasis in the Ica district, Huacachina is a super place to chill out and relax. Make sure to walk to the top of a dune to watch the sun set over the desert.
Travel without trying new food is like Angelina and Brad flying without a brood of children in tow. It just isn’t right. That is why tasting delectable dishes during our journeys around the world is the most important part of our day!

I was on the phone with one of my best friends. She had just found out the news that she had been selected to lead a research and development team in Peru for 6 months. After my congratulations I just blurted out, “I’m going to visit you”.
Peru was one of those destinations that completely astounded Dave and I.There was no way we were going to miss seeing Machu Picchu and since we only had two weeks in the country, we made a beeline to the star attraction.
Last week on CTV we talked about our top adventure destinations in the world. While all countries offer adventure of some kind, there are a few that we have been to that seem to cater to the true adventurous spirit.

I’m sure the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Peru is NOT Sand Dunes. Well in Hucachina in Ica province lies a vast desert which will wow you with amazing views, thrill you in a Dune Buggy and put you sand boarding skills to work.
We have done a post before on surreal travel experiences but nothing has compared to our time in India. India itself is a little surreal and we have experienced some of the weirdest moments in our travels. Not surprisingly, many of those moments happened in the desert. It made us not only think of our time in the Indian desert, but other surreal moments that happened in deserts around the world.
Six months ago, we decided to work diligently on our blog. It has been an amazing experience writing daily posts and it has made us reflect on our past travels. In a few short weeks, we will be making new memories, but for now we would like to share some of our Favorite things that we have encountered in our travels. We were brainstorming about moments that have stood out over the years and here is our list of Favorites from abroad.
I love my job, and I feel so lucky to be able to say that. There’s no doubt, it’s a fantastic personal experience to take part in a volunteer program abroad, and through my work I feel even more privileged to be involved in and stay connected to our partner projects and volunteers each and every day.
There are some incredible places to view wildlife in their natural habitat and in sanctuaries. Unfortunately it is becoming more and more difficult to see wildlife in the actual wild, but there are some great places that have set up protected reserves for animals to live fee from the encroachment of urban developement in their natural habitat.
Last year a fantastic movie with Jack Nickleson and Morgan Freeman came out, and everyone jumped on the band wagon of making a “Bucket List.” I am glad that this started getting people to finally get out there and start living their lives. Now that we have crazy and more extreme ambitions and it is nice to visit places like Victoria Falls or Egypt, where we can tick a bunch items on our “bucket list” in one destination. That was what it was like when we visited Peru.
