Flash back 5 years. We are travelling through 8 countries over the course of a summer. The whole trip was life-altering and transformative. Our thirst for adventure led us to Interlaken, Switzerland to white water raft through the Alps.
The best part of staying in an apartment when traveling is to be able to cook at home. One of the most expensive parts of travel for us, is food. We love to eat well and can never bring ourselves to jump in for a quick bite at the stand up bar or grab a sandwich to go.
When we were told that we’d be spending the morning at Gladiator School during our visit to Italy’s capital, we immediately said, “Sign me up!” Who doesn’t want to learn a little about the Ancient City’s past while getting the chance to wield a sword?
We first were introduced to apartment rentals as an alternative to hotels last year during the Mongol Rally. It was a couple of days later that Roomorama became our official sponsor of the whacky rally.
My mind is abuzz after Travel Bloggers Unite in Italy. From our side of the weekend’s events, we can state that it was a rousing success. Spending the Saturday leading and attending sessions for Industry professionals was one of the highlights of the event. Now, two days later we are more motivated than ever and have come away with the feeling that the future looks bright for Travel Blogging in Europe.
When one thinks of Rome, the first thing that comes to mind besides the ancient sites like the Roman Colosseum and Trevi Fountain are Vespa scooters. Everyone remembers Audrey Hepburn riding with Gregory Peck during Roman Holiday; and the tradition continues decades later. Visions of “Euro chic” women clad in designer fashions and fine Italian leather boots ride colourful Vespas through the roundabouts with not a hair out of place!
This week we had the pleasure of visiting Rome with some great ladies of the travel blogging world. As usual Dave was the only man in the mix of many women (not that he was complaining) so when we took a stroll to the Trevi Fountain at midnight, he just had to snap a photo of his entourage.
I know, You’re wondering why on earth we were at a cemetery on a walking tour through markets and traditional eateries, but this isn’t your every day food tour. It’s an culinary journey through Rome’s culture and history. Kenny, our guide had many a story to share and our stop at the cemetery was the highlight of our trip.
We have never gone on a food tour before, but when in Rome, I think that it is something that is not to be missed. So when our old Mongol Rally teammate Sherry of Ottsworld hooked us up with Kenny of Eating Italy Food Tours in Rome, how could we resist?

The history and the background on the monuments and buildings will be coming soon along with Dave’s usual [...]
We’ve arrived in Italy! If Rome can’t bring the romance and zest for travel back, nothing can! As I caught a glimpse of its massive monument, My mood of weary traveler changed instantly to excited tourist.
I started travelling when I was 20. As a student I couldn’t afford a long stay. As a worker, things hadn’t change.I fell in love with my Sardinia, as I’ve seen it for the first time. So quite honestly, I’m addicted to it, I’m a slow traveller!
Our good pal and teammate from the Mongol Rally, Sherry of Ottsworld has exciting things going on at her website and you need to check this out! If you love free travel, this is the post for you.
Do you have your ticket yet? Travel Bloggers Unite is happening on April 20-22 in beautiful Umbria, Italy and we’re speaking at it along with some of the top people in the travel industry.
Bella Italia! Italy is scrumptious. We only spent 4 days in the Cinque Terre region but it was enough of a taste to know that we want to see more.
Determined to celebrate my special birthday in grand style, I scoured books and brochures for the perfect place. Tutti a Tavola, a cooking school and somewhere to stay in a remote part of the Chianti Hills in Tuscany was an easy decision. A phone call later, our travel plans were under way.
When it comes to a romantic city break, Paris and Rome are always top contenders for places to go to sweep your partner off their feet in a romantic, exciting and culture filled few days. With both cities offering many similar advantages, when it comes to making the decision you have to ask yourself – are you a Roman or a Parisian?
I gazed over at my Italian host mother, Rebecca. Over the course of the last four months we had become family.During my first few days in Florence, I told Rebecca how nervous I was to start my internship at a Florence museum
