According to Wikipedia there are now upwards of 295,000 apps now available in the Android marketplace; not bad considering there were only 2.300 available this time (March) two years ago (2009).
Driving into Marseille was a nightmare at Friday night rush hour. We couldn’t find a campground to stay at near the city so we decided to stay at our old standby hotel for budget accommodation in Europe. We punched in The Ibis Hotel into our GPS and found one near the train station in Marseille. We thought that would be a great location and probably a little out of the downtown area. Boy were we wrong.
We haven’t been traveling for very long yet and we have many growing pains to work through. Both with travel, technical aspects and with the blog. Finding a story and keeping it interesting. We have never had to worry about how long we stayed at a place before or how often we need to get to the Internet, but now that we are working to become full time Travel Bloggers and professional travelers, we really have to look at our journey in a different way.
Bringing and unlocked iPhone to India seemed like a good idea at the time. We thought that if we couldn’t get to an Internet Café, we would at least be able to check our email. It is three weeks into our trip and we have finally managed to make our iPhone and Data Plan work. Here is what we had to go through to make our iPhone work in India.
Little did I know that I would already be living life as a backpacker before leaving Canada. We have been spending our evenings at the local coffee shop catching up on emails and blog posts, negotiating with advertisers and finalizing the last of our banking. Well, even in a developed country like Canada problems can arise. While we are traveling, we expect we expect little mishaps along the way, but to have them start before we even began is a little bit frustrating. Here are some of the things that we have learned while not having an Internet connection at our beck and call.
It’s Monday, you know what that means. Time to tell you the mis-adventures of Dave and Deb preparing for India and how things are going at theplanetd. Let me start by talking to you about our electronics.
“What the %#*! Electronics am I going to bring on this trip??” This is usually the first thing out of my mouth when I start thinking of what we are going to pack for our latest adventure. Deb is usually concerned over all of those non important things like Visa’s, Shots, Banking etc. But it is I who dares to ask this dreaded question that plagues every photographer before they jump on that plane and head to the next destination. Well maybe not everyone but me for sure. Technology changes so much I am always chomping at the bit for the latest greatest on the market. Unfortunately I am limited to a budget so it narrows down the choices. Like anyone I would love to spend 10,000 on the best gear as long as someone else is paying for it. But alas the funds must come from my coffers so money is an issue.
