I gazed over at my Italian host mother, Rebecca. Over the course of the last four months we had become family.During my first few days in Florence, I told Rebecca how nervous I was to start my internship at a Florence museum
The other day Dave and I were asked a simple question by a person at a well known financial podcast that will be interviewing us in the near future. (stay tuned for more details) The Question was, What do you sell, what is your product? Dave didn’t hesitate for one second. He answered inspiration…. and he [...]
It is hard to believe that our summer at home is coming to an end soon and in a short time we will be back on the road exploring the world. Not before we meet with fellow travel lovers for an inspiring evening of Meet Plan Go though. If you have ever had the dream of taking an extended travel but don’t have the resources or means to make it happen, Meet Plan Go is for you. The event is completely free and it is going to be one motivating evening. We are excited to be a part of a panel of travellers that we have admired in the past and can now call them our friends and mentors.
We wrap up this media week with songs that inspire travel. Like all of our lists this past week this was not easy to narrow down our choices to only six. There are many other songs out there that make us want to travel. Even as I write this introduction I am thinking of others but I won’t bore you with my thoughts, let us know if you have any songs that make you want to visit a country or city.
Here it comes, the post that almost every travel blog has tacked in the past. But it is media week after all and how can one talk about all the different mediums that inspire travel and not talk about our favorite travel books? The books that we have come up with in our list are just the books that we like. The books about travel, a specific country or a journey that have either inspired us to visit them, make a difference or try something new.
One of the things we love the most about travel is meeting new people. While we could compile a list of a hundred people that we have met that have become great friends and have been an inspiration, we wanted to share with you a few of the special people that have really stood out and touched our hearts during our travels around the world over the years. 1. Mary Louise in Paris, France, 2. Hussein in Udaipur, India, 3. Ajith in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka, 4. Abdulla Ahmed in Wadi Halfa, Sudan, 5. Kul and Mim Das Tamang in Kathmandu, Nepal
Hussain has a story, almost 20 years in the making. Hussein is the manager of our guest house here in Udaipur. He has been leasing this property for 9 years and running the guest house while learning all about the hotel business. Years ago, his father bought this piece of land for 40,000 rupees to build a house. He never did build the house, but Hussain has been chipping away at a giant rock by hand etching out his dream hotel. It is finally almost ready to open.
Today’s post comes from activist Tendai Sean Joe founder of the Trail of Hope Foundation. In the coming months, Tendai is planning a motorcycle tour Starting in South Africa and ending in Europe where he will be raising awareness about the plight of children around the world. Last year, Dave and I cycled from Cairo to Cape Town where we rode for Plan Canada; another charity that focuses on helping children live a better life. We are happy to be able to help spread the word about this enormous undertaking and to let people know about the great work that is being done by an inspiring human being.
