Paris Museum and Attraction Closures

Summer is in full swing and it is holiday time for families.

We recently had the opportunity to go to Paris and fell in love with the city of lights.

It takes a lot of planning to see Paris and not break that bank and we wrote a couple of articles on the topic…

Got Saga wrote and awesome post on other Free Things to do In Paris that we hadn’t even thought of. It takes our ideas as novice Parisean travelers to the next level. Check it out at 7 Fun Things you Can do in Paris at no Cost.

We also wrote what to do if you only have three days in Paris.

If you plan properly, you can fit a lot in during your time in Paris and have the trip of a lifetime.  But if you are like many people and only have a limited time in the city, you need to arm yourself with a few more tips regarding its attractions and museums.

Closures

We had a few hiccups in our travels to Paris because we were not organized enough and should have done more research.  Paris has some great deals, great savings and a lot of free things to do, but you can also miss out on your perfect day in Versailles or at the Louvre if you happen to go when they are closed.

Yes, even the largest museums and attractions in Paris are closed one day each week.

Here is a list of opening hours and closings for Museums, attractions and important sites in Paris

  2. One other note about the Arc de Triomphe – we went up it at dusk and waited for the lights to come on on the Effiel tower and throughout the city – it was beautiful!

Also kids under 18 with 2 paying adults are free! We met a kid in line that was from Canada and they were not going to let him up – so we said we were his uncle and aunt and it ended up being free for him!
He was a nice kid doing an exchange to learn French for the summer – so it felt nice to help him out :-)

    Great post!

My daughter celebrated her 6th birthday here when we started our open ended world tour in 2006, so now we’re going back so she can see it again at a very sophisticated ;) almost 10! ;)
