Most eerie for me are the Ehrentempels here in Munich that held the 'martyrs' of the Nazis. Although blown up by the Americans, their foundations remain, and people walk past without guessing their provenance.

Very good article. I've found your site via Google and I'm really happy about the information you provide in your articles. Btw your sites layout is really broken on the Kmelon browser. Would be cool if you could fix that. Anyhow keep up the good work!

We agree, It is definitely our number one favourite. We are kind of bad that every time we see another ruin, we compare it to TIka. Even though I know that they all have their own unique qualities and really aren't comparable, we still always say "well, it's nice, but it's not Tikal"

Great selections. Ryan and I love visiting ruins too. There are a lot of ruins we love from Greece, like Knossos in Crete, Delphi, Olympia, and Acropolis of Athens (even though too bad it's too touristy). These ruins always make me intrigued about the people's past life and the relation between their life, politics, wars, culture and their believe (including the myths).
I want to go back to Egypt one day. The first time we were there, we only had time for seeing the great pyramid complex and some sites in Alexandria (Qaitbey and Pompei's Pillars). But I want to see more of what's left from the ancient Egypt.

We just got back from El Tamarindo, North of Manzanillo. I must say I have mixed feelings about the resort. It is a beautiful place, set on 2000 acres of dry thorn forest, next to a calm bay. We saw a multitude of animals and birds, and the setting was very quiet and peaceful except for the weekend when the beach was invaded by locals and tourists visiting from across the bay. It is not for everyone, as it is isolated without much to do.
