You pretty much covered it all. Temples, markets, and the beaches are my favorites. Then there is the daily food. I don't know how you managed to just have 10 - there could be another 1000 favorite things.

Did you know that you can even take a short (15 minute) cruise along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok for free?
While 8 Baht is very cheap, free is even cheaper!

I'm talking about the two boats that ferry passengers between the Taksin Bridge and the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa, a little down stream.

You don't need to be a guest of the hotel to ride the boat, and they even hand out scented and chilled hand towels to wipe off the Bangkok grime. We often take this boat down to the resort to enjoy the Thai BBQ buffet, which is absolutely fantastic.

I admit that it may not be as adventurous as getting a local commuter boat, but it might be a nice option for people who really want to know where they will end up.

Also, if you take the trip at night, it is really romantic, especially if you sit on the bow. :)

Fun list! My additions: (1) a Klong boat in Bangkok - these tiny boats ply the narrow rivers in downtown Bangkok, zooming their way from Democracy monument all the way to Siam in minutes, fastest and cheapest way to get around. (2) Take a boat out to Ko Kret for the day, a tiny island nr Bangkok proper. in the Chao Praya. It's full of narrow bike trails to explore, Burmese pottery (it serves as a refuge for Mon tribes and they are known for their pottery and woodcraft) and it's a lot of fun to discover. And, (3) Get out of the tourist areas and go to the Nan and Prae provinces. Gorgeous scenery, friendly people and almost no other tourists in sight. Rent a moto from Nan and get to it!

Aw, and now I want to go back....

Catching a flick at the MBK Centre is great — makes even terrible movies a fun experience. Love the 'VIP' section. Reclining seats, beer, etc — it is the way movies were meant to be watched!

i would include in your list of islands also Koh Tao, it's just amazing with great beaches, nightlife (but not too much as the nearby party islands), yet not so touristy and with wonderful marine life. reading your posts i am seriously thinking to go back asap

You are killing me! You make me so homesick reading about all these Thailand posts. :) Well, next year we will be home bound soon.

Oh. I miss those fruit stand in Bangkok. The salt, sugar and chilies mix is the best, isn't it?

It took me a while to get used to the idea of movie theater here that there is no designated seat. I think assigned seat help the theater to get the show with full house.

As native, there are a few things that I'm looking forward every trip back home. Shopping and Eating are the top two on the list. Well, visiting friends and relatives is probably another one. :)

MBK is great for overall shopping and hanging out

Pantip - well, don't wanna say much let's say geeks like us love it there.

Platinum - great wholesale price clothing. A great alternative to Pratunam (across the street) for the easy to navigate and A/C. A bit higher price but worth it when I shop with kids.

Lumpinee Night Bazzar - great alternative to the famous JJ (Chatuchak) market. Again, not as cheap or as big but perfect when traveling with kids.

Oh. I miss those fruit stand in Bangkok. The salt, sugar and chilies mix is the best, isn’t it?

It took me a while to get used to the idea of movie theater here that there is no designated seat. I think assigned seat help the theater to get the show with full house.

As native, there are a few things that I’m looking forward every trip back home. Shopping and Eating are the top two on the list. Well, visiting friends and relatives is probably another one.

MBK is great for overall shopping and hanging out

Pantip – well, don’t wanna say much let’s say geeks like us love it there.

Platinum – great wholesale price clothing. A great alternative to Pratunam (across the street) for the easy to navigate and A/C. A bit higher price but worth it when I shop with kids.

Lumpinee Night Bazzar – great alternative to the famous JJ (Chatuchak) market. Again, not as cheap or as big but perfect when traveling with kids.
