A Niagara Winery at Sunset
It was nearing the end of our day as we sampled the various ice wines of the Niagara Winery, Jackson-Triggs.
Canada’s largest winery, Jackson Triggs is also one of the most popular brands of wine in the country and we had the chance enjoy a few of their latest cocktail creations. The ice wine festival is going on right now and it is an amazing opportunity to embrace the cold and enjoy the unique wines that are created during the bone chilling freeze of winter.
The Niagara wineries have come together to attract tourists to the region during the Canadian cold and it is an exciting event. There are ice sculptures, snow shoeing, wine tastings and food pairings all with special deals at the local eateries and hotels in the surrounding area of the picturesque Niagara on the Lake.
It was at Jackson-Triggs that we enjoyed special wine cocktails such as heated mulled red wine spiced with cinnamon and mixed with Apple Cider. We enjoyed a Niagara Kir Royal where a Cabernet Fran ice wine is blended with Jackson-Triggs sparkling Wine, and and ice wine martini combining premium vodka with Inniskillin Vidal Icewine.
I can’t wait to try making these at home!
While we relaxed in the warmth, we looked out over the vineyard and were treated to this view of the winter sun setting over the rows of vines in the backyard of the Jackson-Triggs estate winery. This was the last stop of the day before heading back to Niagara Falls where we spent the night at the Hilton Niagara overlooking the mighty falls.

That shot is AMAZING!!!
What peaceful vibe….
Stay adventurous, Craig
snowy ground and lots of wine… perfect!
Agreed, it was pretty perfect.
We lately spend 4 night time at Niagara Winery and it was definitely beautiful. It is incredibly practical to Niagara Drops and everything in this location. In keeping with its small-is-beautiful ethos, Niagara on the Pond has no cycle accommodations.
Ice wine? Isn’t that on the sweet side — possibly a dessert wine?
