Bagan, Myanmar – Video

Bagan, Myanmar

Visiting Myanmar was a very special experience. We barely saw another traveler the entire time we were in the country. Most people visiting the land formerly known as Burma take package tours, but we spent our time in small guesthouses hiring local guides at the bus stop.

When visiting Bagan, the countries incredible temple complex, we hired a horse cart to take us through its mass expanse. It was the perfect way to see this extraordinary display of ruins. I remember our driver was expecting a child any day now and we were happy to contribute to his lively hood.

The next day we hired bicycles to explore some more and were mesmerized by the amount of ruins that sprawled over miles of land on the Irawaddy River. If you go to South East Asia, make sure to put Myanmar on your list, and if you go to Myanmar, be sure to visit Bagan!

    • Thanks Smith Canoe. Myanmar is a very special place and with the sanctions being lifted, it looks like there might be a bright future for the country and it’s people.
