Alaska’s Denali National Park, Pioneer in Conservation
Taking part in the Follow Me At Sea Press Trip presented by Princess Cruises, we had access to every tour and excursion that anyone could imagine taking part in. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to take part in dream adventures such as flights over Mount McKinley, Helicopter rides over the Juneau Ice Field and racing through the inside passage of the Tongass National Forest, but we also had the chance to learn about the history of America’s most exciting state. One of the most informative and interesting trips that we took was a bus ride through Denali National Park.
Heli, Hike and Rail in Skagway, Alaska
One of the most pleasant excursions we had on our Alaskan Cruise was during our day in Skagway, Alaska. Princess Cruises really spoiled us by allowing us to choose any adventure that we liked during our time on the Follow Me At Sea Press Trip.Alaska is an adventure paradise.Between the wildlife, the glaciers and the terrain, a person could spend weeks filling up their itinerary with activities.The Heli, Hike and Rail day trip was the perfect blend of adventure, exercise and sight seeing.
Dave and Deb Do New York City
People are always surprised to hear that Dave and I have never been to New York. It is only a 9-hour drive from Toronto and really, who hasn’t been to New York City? Yours Truly.We had always wondered what all the fuss was about. I mean, it is just a city right. That is why we never bothered to take the trip here. Summertime Things to do in Montreal
Before leaving for France one of the best ways to warm up to the French culture is to spend a couple of days in the beautiful city of Montreal, Quebec. Montreal is one of Canada’s most beautiful cities. Located on the St. Lawrence River, it has a certain European vibe. Cafés line the sidewalks of Old Montreal, bicycles are readily available for rent, grand old buildings have stood the test of time and old Cathedrals are the cornerstone of French culture and site seeing. A long weekend in Montreal is the perfect getaway and here are a few things that will help you to occupy your time while visiting our relaxed French speaking city.

Alaska is full of Flora and Fauna that if you spend enough time here you can literally see it all. From Bald eagles and Humpback whales to beautiful wild flowers and amazing National Parks. Alaska really has something for everyone.
Flying Over Mount McKinley
Whether you are going to Alaska on a Princess Cruise or traveling independently you have to splurge and get yourself on a flight to see Mount McKinley. We arrived in Denali to the Denali Princess lodge and started our true Alaskan adventure today. We were in for a bumpy ride as the wind was bursting. Originally we had a tour planned to land on the Mount McKinely’s glacier, but the weather wasn’t cooperating today and our flight was changed to a fly over with the possibility of landing.
Paris at night: A Photo Story
Paris at night is beautiful. Unfortunately they turn all of the lights off on the monuments and bridges at Midnight. Considering it doesn’t get dark until 10:30pm it doesn’t give one much of a chance to get a lot of shots in one night.
The Famous Cimetiere Pere la Chaise
Located in the north east corner of Paris, Cimetiere Pere la Chaise is the most visited graveyard in the world. Over 800,000 souls are buried here and besides Jim Morrison, some of the other famous residents include Chopin, Moliere, Edith Piaf, Rossini and Oscar Wilde. One can always tell when you happen upon a famous grave by the crowd of people. Walking with our heads buried in our map we would look up to see a crowd and rush to take a look at what famous person is buried there.
Tackling A Via Ferrata in Haute Provence
What is a Via Ferrata you ask? It is one of those walks that you have seen so many times on photos on the internet. The photos where people call this hike the most dangerous hike in the world or the craziest trail in the world. We always wondered what these people were thinking walking along cliffs until we realized that they were simply doing a Via Ferrata. A Via Ferrata is a lot like rock climbing but you don’t have to have any technical skill or training. If you know how to attach a caribbiner to a steal cable and climb a ladder, you can do a Via Feratta.

A Detour to Italy’s Riviera. A Treat for the Taste Buds
We couldn’t waste any more time relaxing on the beach and we had to get ourselves to the Cinque Terra in Italy. It is a beautiful piece of the Mediterranean where one can walk and hike along a gorgeous path on the coast. The minute we entered Italy we fell in love with it. The language is music to my ears, the food is heaven to the taste buds and the people are friendly and passionate.
Marseilles, French Port at it’s Finest
We had no idea what to expect from Marseille. We had read that it was busy and crowded and a little rough around the edges. We had known about it from history and movies and we had been excited to finally make it to the French Riviera. Our first impression of Marseille was a busy one. We drove in on a Friday evening during rush hour and the confusion and traffic was unbearable. We almost decided to drive right on through and leave the hustle and bustle behind. Thank God we Didn’t.
Andorra La Vella, We Like It!
The weather has been getting better every day here in Europe and even though we rushed to Spain and enjoyed it there thoroughly, we felt the need to get ourselves back to France. Andorra was on our route back to Provence, France so we decided to spend a couple of days there hiking through the hills. Three Days in Paris
Many people don’t spend a lot of time in Paris. Accommodation can be expensive, eating out is expensive and people only have a set amount of time before they would like to move on to see the rest of France. While it would take years to really experience everything that Paris has to offer, you can see many of its sites in three days. It will be a busy three days and you will need a vacation after running around the streets of Paris, but it can be done.
Visit Paris on a Budget
As travelers that tend to visit less developed countries, we were a little apprehensive about coming to France. We were excited to hear that our blog was chosen by Air France and the winner of free tickets on their Premium Voyageur Class, but at the same time, we had to cut our very cheap travels through central Asia short to make our way to Europe.
Catacombs of Paris
We have always wanted to go to the Catacombs of Paris. The last time we were in Paris, we ran out of time and didn’t make it to its underground labyrinth of death. When we visited Lima, Peru the catacombs were high on our to do list and we were sure that we would go. Unfortunately I developed a bad case of food poisoning from eating at the Tony Roma’s on the waterfront of Mira Flores and spent our last two days in the city praying to the porcelain God.

What is more scary than taking a flight on a small twin engine plane through the Himalayas of Nepal from Kathmandu to Lukla? Having to take a flight back in rough weather. After two weeks of trekking the the most famous mountain range on earth it was time to return to civilization. At 2800 meters, Lukla is the town where most people start and finish their trek to Everest Base Camp.The Tenzing/Hillary airport is a crazy airstrip dangling off the side of a mountain. It is short, it is steep and it falls thousands of meters into an enormous valley.
Top 10 Things we Love About Travel
Yesterday we wrote about the 10 things we Hate about Travel. You didn’t think that we would just leave you with that would you? We had to counter that negative post. We love to travel and believe me, we love more things about travel than we hate. Otherwise we wouldn’t be doing it. The problem with writing this post was narrowing it down to only 10 things. We love so much about travel that we could have written 100 things that we love about it. But we don’t want to bore you to death.
