We have an amazing week ahead of us showcasing all the great winter things you can do in Western Canada. We’re going to be doing some amazing adventures, but we also want to show that you can have an amazing vacation at a winter destination. Romance doesn’t have to happen on a beach. Imagine sitting by the fire sipping wine as the snow comes down outside. Or take part in a great Canadian tradition of hot tubbing outdoors in the middle of winter with a glass of champagne in hand.

Besides hitting the slopes on our snowboards, we have a ton or fantastic winter activities planned.

What will we be up to for the week in Whistler?

After we arrive in Vancouver, we’ll hop on Pacific Coach Lines and drive along the sea to sky highway towards Whistler. We used to live in Vancouver and can attest that this is one of the great drives of the world.

We decided to stay at the Westin Resort right in the heart of Whistler Village and we can’t wait to see if it lives up to the hype. There’s no denying that it’s got the best location on the mountain, will it have the best accommodations too?

Lucky for us, we booked an early flight, so we arrive in the afternoon on Sunday, giving us time to check out the spectacular Fire and Ice show right at the base of Whistler Mountain. We’re staying right in the heart of all the action and we’re so looking forwards to seeing snowboarders jump through the Ring of Fire! It’s going to get us pumped and motivated for our four days of snowboarding ahead!

Four Days of Snowboarding

The rest of the week takes us to snowboarding the best and biggest mountain in all of North America. With more than 8100 acres of terrain, 200 trails, 38 lifts and 16 alpine bowls this is going to be a skiing vacation to remember!

We have four full days on the Whistler/Blackhomb mountains and we finish it all off with a black-country ski clinic. We’ve never had the opportunity to snowboard off the trails, and we are looking forward to learning all about it with The Adventure Group.

Adventures in Whistler

It’s not all snowboarding though. We’re going to try our hand at some fun adventures too!

We’ve got bobsledding on the agenda. Who hasn’t wanted to whiz down an Olympic track in their lives? I wonder if we’ll even be able to come close to the 153 km per hour record speed set by the Latvian four-man bobsled team at the Olympics? We’ll just have to wait and see. Something tells me this blobsleigh track is going to be a little different from our silly fun in Jamaica.

We’re also doing some backcountry snowmobiling with the Adventure Group. It’s going to be a blast getting off the beaten path and viewing the beautiful Rocky Mountains from deep in the woods.

Romance in Whistler

It’s not all adventure though, romance is a must for any winter destination.

It all kicks off with a horse drawn sleigh ride at the Chalet where we’ll enjoy a fondue with our favourite hotel chain the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. I’ve always wanted to take a sleigh ride and there is not a more romantic setting than in the heart of the mountains with the man I love…. And nothing more romantic than ending the evening with cheese, lots of cheese.

We’ve got a Scandinavian spa on the agenda too! Ooh, I just love a day at the spa.

We’re so excited for Whistler. When we lived in Vancouver in the 90’s we didn’t make the trip out to Whistler enough, now we’re making up for lost time. We’ll be sharing every moment with you on our facebook fanpage, twitter and instagram and giving you a play by play of how our adventures are going. So stay tuned and get ready for another Expedia/PlanetD adventure, #ExpediainWhistler is happening right now!
