Driftwood at Sunset in New Zealand

We spent many a night camping on the beach with the Flying Kiwi in New Zealand. The country is beautiful from tip to toe and to be able to sleep under the stars was a wonderful way to experience it. Every night we were treated to a gorgeous sunset. The skies in New Zealand are astounding. Until Antarctica, I don’t recall seeing such vivid blues up in the air.
Every so often we had a camp fire on the beach. There was a great singer/songwriter in our group from Canada that we loved listening to and one night we all even took turns singing our country’s national anthem around a campfire made of driftwood. This may have been that night.
The setting for this photo couldn’t have been more perfect to capture the tranquility we felt each night relaxing in secluded spaces of New Zealand.

The sky in this photo is so beautiful and the silhouette adds a nice human element.
Hi,
I would also like to know where this spot is, since I am going to NZ next thursday.
Looking forward to explore this beautiful country.

Lovely shot – where on the South Island is this?
wonderful photo, kids, really! I cannot tell you how I love a shore fire; must be something in the aging molecules of my DNA – your photo just hits it.
Incredible picture…that campfire wood looks like a piece of art…i would seriously thinking twice before burning it…lol
So true eh. It is beautifully designed.
