Knowing who you are, what you can achieve, and finding self-reliance is something no one can take from you. Once you realize it, it will always be there to keep you upright when the hurricanes of life try to blow you over. The place of knowledge is irrelevant; it could be a mountain, a stretch of highway, or your own living room. Mine just happened to be a tropical hideaway.
While it’s amazing to have a gorgeous suite to lay our heads, we normally spend our days exploring our destination to the fullest, and luckily our hosts understood that about us and made sure that we sampled everything!
As I sit down to write this 2011 Adventure Travel Round up, I am in shock and awe that we really did all these things in a span of 365 days. We just lived a year of adventure travel that I never thought I would have the opportunity to ever do in my life
It seems that you can’t go to the Caribbean without taking part in a zip line tour and Jamaica is no exception. As part of our soft adventure tour of the island, we spent a morning hanging from the tree tops with Chukka Caribbean.
When travelling to the Jamaica you have got to get yourself on the water. Too many people stick to the resorts basking in the sun and although they are a lot of fun, there is nothing better than sailing the Caribbean Sea.
This past week we had the opportunity to have lunch with our favourite people from the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. The General Manager Flor Van Der Vaart flew all the way to Toronto from the Caribbean to share the news that Air Canada is now starting direct flights from Toronto to St. Kitts. I don’t [...]

It’s contest time again and we have partnered with Air Transat to promote their Suddenly Summer Air Transat Facebook Contest. Today is all about getting yourself to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

We have wanted to zipline over a jungle canopy for years. Ever since hearing of our friends doing it in Costa Rica over a decade ago, it has been on our bucket list. While we have gone ziplining a couple of times in our lives one being in Africa over Victoria Falls’ great Gorge, we have yet to zip over that beautifully lush rainforest. Until Now
We expected a walk in the park. After all, who would have thought that there was an amazing adventure awaiting us on the tiny island nation of St. Kitts. SStanding 1166 metres (3792 feet) high, this dormant volcano is an excellent hike through the jungle. It wasn’t only an educational hike, it was a rigorous climb. Mount Liaguima is a steep trail through the jungle where we climb over roots, fallen logs, giant boulders and slippery trails. It is a true and authentic rainforest hike. The trails are narrow and unkept and the jungle surrounds you every step of the way.
When Marriott Resorts invited us to join nine other Bloggers to Blog from nine different Caribbean destinations, they couldn’t have sent us to an island more suited to our travel style. St. Kitts is one of those Caribbean Islands that still has that laid back feel. Tourists mingle with the locals and the government is doing everything in its power to keep the culture and island vibe alive.Even the Marriott, the St. Kitts’ only branded organization makes sure to encourage its patrons to get off the resort and check out the local hangouts.
We aren’t a food blog, but our waistlines would beg to differ these days! Lately we have had the good fortune to dine at some of the most elegant and delicious restaurants out there during our recent travels. It all started in France in June where we spent a month eating our way through Spain and Italy as well. We were then off to Alaska to enjoy the finest dining that Princess Cruises had to offer. But I have to say, that nothing has compared to our dinner cooked to perfection last night at the Royal Grille Steakhouse at St. Kitts Marriott
St. Kitts is one of the least travelled islands in the Caribbean, we are excited to have the opportunity to travel there thanks to Marriott Resorts. We thought that we would check out the media package that the Marriott St. Kitts supplied to us during a delicious lunch at Toronto’s Canoe restaurant before leaving for our adventure to St. Kitts.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect to let you know about a great promotion that the Marriott is having. Nine Bloggers are leaving for Paradise next week to nine different locations in the Caribbean and the Marriott just so happens to have a great promotion taking place at them all. It is one of the most aggressive resort discounts available in the Caribbean and Mexico and if anyone is planning a vacation this winter, now may be the time to do it.
