Hi Tom, the conditions are perfect for beginners in Bali. As a matter a fact it is excellent for experienced surfers as well. And yes the water is very warm albeit a little too polluted. Hopefully that has changed.

Great article for beginners learning to surf. For some reason I’d always thought the sea was quite calm in Bali so never considered it as a surd destination, but your pics look perfect. I bet the waters nice and warm too which also helps.

Kuta is ok for focused tourists but as you say there are so many touts which means it’s not so good for families. Best thing to do is get a car and drive as there many other quieter beaches in Bali.

Bali is a very popular holiday destination for Australians yet I’ve never been. I relate to what you say about not being able to stay on the beach. I had a similar experience in Phuket, Thailand which made me pool-bound when I love the ocean.

I like the mood of the photograph of the surfer sitting near his board. The one boasting the size of his board isn’t too bad either!

Beautiful picture especially the one where the surfer waited for the wave. Amazing! I wish I can visit Bali some days soon. Might not be surfing but sure would love to enjoy the sunset on the beach.
