Who wouldn’ t want to travel in comfort?
Big changes are happening at Air France and one of them is the launch of its Premium Voyageur cabin on all long-haul flights. This new class offers the traveler and upgrade in service and amenities without the cost of business or first class flying.
As they say in the press release, “It is giant leap forward in comfort for a small difference in price?”
The New Premium Voyageur Class is an intermediary cabin range. It is perfect for small companies or people that have always wanted to upgrade but have been turned off by the excessive fees of flying first class.
Air France’s Premium Voyageur class is positioned right between L’espace Affaires and Economy Voyageur with its own private partition.
You will be treated with that little extra something that we are all looking for when we fly.
Your own personal toiletries kit contains
Air France is the first European airline to offer fixed-shell seats, and the first airline in the world to offer so much legroom. Their spacious design with leather arm rests offer 40% more space than the voyageur class.

But let’s face it, it is always about the food when traveling and you won’t get better cuisine than on an Air France flight. From the nation that prides itself on fine dining, even the economy class has great food. Aperitifs, Champagne, meals designed by top chef Michel Nugues, with a choice of two hot dishes and liqueurs to dazzle your pallette.
Your wines are chosen by Olivier Poussier – world’s best sommelier in 2000!
And on the longest flights you will receive mini-sandwiches and Häagen Dazs ice-cream
I am hungry just thinking about it.

It is exciting to see that airlines are thinking more about the average person. While budget travelers like us can only dream of flying business or first class, we feel that we just may be able to manage a flight on Air France’s Premium Voyageur Class one day in the near future.
This new class doesn’t have to blow your budget.
To give you an idea on costs, here is a list of some examples of fares from France to around the world
- Paris – Beirut round trip from 1,179 euros including tax
- Paris – Hong Kong round trip from 1,657 euros including tax
- Paris – New York round trip from 1,038 euros including tax
- Paris – Beijing round trip from 1,652 euros including tax
- Paris – Singapore round trip from 1,456 euros including tax
- Paris – Tokyo round trip from 1,658 euros including tax
Nice! Wish American based airlines will follow soon. I read a news about Air New Zealand will offer flat bed option for economy!

Wow! Flatbed in economy! This I can’t wait to see!
I agree with Amy – I wish US based airlines would do more for their passengers – it seems like they are only interested in squeezing ever more people onto the planes making everyone uncomfortable, and squeezing every last dime out of us that they can. I’ve heard others say this, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least, if they start charging to breathe on the plane, or look out the window…..I’m seriously thinking of moving to Europe…..

I agree Amy and Trisha. It would be nice if all airlines offered this type of service. It is the same in Canada as the U.S. Maybe worse! We pay so much for our flights and don’t get anything for it. We are even having to pay for our meals and headsets. I can’t imagine free champagne and great wine with plenty of legroom…heaven.
I guess they gotta do something to inspire confidence in their customers again…

Great! I need more space as my knees, can not take the cramped quarters. Wish more Airlines would think about their passenger’s comfort.
It is definitely going to start a new trend I think.
Wow……..sounds great! Finally an airline that offers the opportunity to travel in comfort without the crazy price. Will definitely be booking on my next trip!
This looks amazing, and exciting! It is nice to see an airline consider the needs of avid travellers on a more limited budget. I will definitely be checking out Air France!
Thanks so much for sharing this amazing information!
It really is exciting isn’t it Angie. Something that us budget travelers can take advantage of.
Finally an airline that has some compassion for its travellers – we all need more leg room especially on long flights, better food and better prices.Hopefully other airlines will take note and follow the Air France lead-
Yes Lois I agree. More leg room s a plus and better prices a must!
This looks awesome. I’ve flown with AF on various occasions and the food was almost always good. Fab wines on board too! I believe it’s also the only airline that serves champagne in Economy!
All the best!
Cheers,
Keith

We have never flown Air France, but that champagne sounds amazing! We had a guest post last October about an awesome experience with Air France when they lost the authors luggage. Seems like they have amazing customer service as well. You can read that post here. http://theplanetd.com/confessions-of-a-post-luggage-loss-shopaholic
Just learn you won a ticket on air france’s contest, congrats and have fun in Paaaris:) I participated but guess it’s better luck next time. Happy for you
Thanks Sue! We are very excited and grateful to Air France for the opportunity. Hope you make it to Paris soon too!
Wow Dave and Deb I am so proud to say that you have come so far! I remember when I would be telling you of my travels and I’d see your eyes light up. Now it is my eyes that are wide! This new Air France service is something that us older travelers can take advantage of as well, after all I’ll be 45 in April, and I haven’t been to the city of lights since 2002, so I am over due.
The spirit of the traveler is a robust one, but the road is long, and one must rest when one becomes weary. To rest in comfort, traveling amongst ones peers in a class of our own is unheard of.
I wish I was with you but the spring beckons and the farm’s many green sprouts are still dried little seeds, so travel must wait a little bit. But tonight as I slip between the sheets, and don my travel socks, and place my travel mask over my eyes, I will travel with you.
Will, that is beautiful. Yes it was people like you that inspired us to travel. I remember talking to all the established film biz people and hearing about their travels over the years and I wanted to be just like them. I also remember and early email during a trip we took in 2003 to Asia when you said that I have a knack for writing, maybe I should try my hand at it. That stuck with me and now I am happy to say that I am writing my little heart out. Big thanks for all your support over the years and hopefully we will be in Honduras or somewhere while you are there and we can finally have that beer at sunset. Or we can finally come to see you at your farm when we come home. Which will most likely happen this summer. This time however, we won’t have to spend all our time back at work. We can finally get around to visiting people now that we are free from the biz. You know what the hours can be like especially for Dave:-)
